The motto behind #IntegrityFirst is #StopSurivingStartThriving. We all know people who have cheated, lied, or taken something that did not belong to them? In all actuality, we’ve all made poor decisions at some point in our lives. We do what we feel we have to in order to get by, to take care of ourselves and our family. I call this, “survival mode.” We find ourselves in situations where we feel we have to cut corners in order to get by. We have set backs, we struggle, and in the heat of the moment we make decisions that could potentially be life altering. We convince ourselves that what we are doing isn’t “that bad,” that this one time won’t make a difference, that no one else will find out. Sometimes we sneak by; the white lie, the quick glance, the slick fingers, the angry outburst; we achieve our task without anyone else even knowing. Sometimes if we do get caught, people look the other way, give us a slap on the wrist, sometimes we face consequences. Survival Mode, puts us at risk and adds unnecessary stress. Yet, even though some of us make poor decisions in survival mode, I am a firm believer that individuals truly have good intentions. We may not always make the best decisions, but in our hearts, independent of our justification, deep down we know what we are doing.
The mission of #IntegrityFirst is to help everyone involved in our organization to remove themselves from survival mode. Not just by teaching life skills in order to live life the right way, but also by creating a support system to help each individual truly thrive. We want our players, coaches, staff, everyone we are involved with, to have Integrity in all that they do, at all times, no matter who they are around. God created us to thrive. To live a good life, to do what is right even when no one else is watching. From surviving to thriving, #IntegrityFirst will strive each day to enable everyone we interact with to live life how we were intended to live.
